Things I am aware of at the start of 2012.
I am aware that love is intensely powerful. Insanely, awesomely, breathtakingly powerful, whether it’s between us and God, a lover or a friend. It can be everything and it is scary and wonderful and exciting. It drives everything. Because God is Love. He made it and He does it and we should do the same, I think.
I am aware that things are just things. They become outdated, gather dust, fall out of fashion, break, get stolen and become unnecessary. Time is more precious than money. It is constant, even if it feels like it’s going painfully slowly or way too fast. We’re all just getting older and growing and changing and getting better at who we are. I pray this for you, whoever you are.
I am aware of the present. Because however much we live in the past or look to the future, it’s now we’re dealing with. And whilst it’s important to consider the impact of what we do now for the future, if we’re always looking forward to the next thing we forget to appreciate that things are good here and now. Right here. That I am 21 and in love and I have no money and no job but that’s okay because I am seeing Black Keys this year, I am going to go to Spain and sit on the beach with a bunch of very exciting people and see bands. I am going to get better at illustration, I am going to read books and take pictures and maybe something big will happen and maybe it won’t. I am ready.
New Year is a load of hype anyway. Ha.
